N\u00e9 \u00e0 Paris, Camille ROCHE (1894-1948) est le fils d\u2019Odilon Roche, artiste et marchand d\u2019art. D\u00e8s son enfance, il d\u00e9montre un grand talent pour la peinture et le dessin. En 1905, \u00e2g\u00e9 de 11 ans seulement, il expose deux \u0153uvres au Salon d\u2019Automne. En 1912, il se rend en Italie \u00e0 la Mortola puis en Tunisie avec L\u00e9on Detroy d\u2019o\u00f9 il rapportera de nombreux dessins. D\u00e8s 1913, il re\u00e7oit ses premi\u00e8res commandes de d\u00e9cor, notamment pour l\u2019appartement de Colette puis celui de Coco\u00a0Chanel en 1917.<\/span><\/p>\n

Mobilis\u00e9 en 1914, il est gri\u00e8vement bless\u00e9 au combat et d\u00e9mobilis\u00e9 en 1916. Apr\u00e8s-Guerre, il entame une collaboration avec la Manufacture de S\u00e8vres qui durera de nombreuses ann\u00e9es, notamment durant les deux Expositions Internationales de 1925 et 1937, pour lesquelles il r\u00e9alise \u00ab Le Paradis terrestre \u00bb et le \u00ab Boudoir de Serge et Camille ROCHE \u00bb.<\/p>\n

En 1920, il devient laur\u00e9at de la premi\u00e8re promotion de la \u00ab Fondation am\u00e9ricaine pour la pens\u00e9e et l\u2019art fran\u00e7ais \u00bb, \u00e9galement connue sous le nom de la \u00ab Fondation Florence Blumenthal \u00bb.<\/p>\n

Puis dans les ann\u00e9es 30, il collabore avec son fr\u00e8re Serge Roche, un des plus grands d\u00e9corateurs de l\u2019\u00e9poque, dont il r\u00e9alise l\u2019essentiel des d\u00e9cors de son h\u00f4tel particulier de la rue Las Cases et participe au d\u00e9cor de la plupart des commandes que Serge Roche re\u00e7oit \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9poque. Il r\u00e9alise pour cela, entre autres, de somptueux paravents \u00e0 fond d\u2019or et d\u2019argent. En 1938, il ex\u00e9cute un grand d\u00e9cor pour la villa de Lord et Lady Cholmondeley, chambellan de la Reine d\u2019Angleterre \u00e0 Juan- les-Pins.<\/p>\n

Il est \u00e9galement renomm\u00e9 pour ses dessins de nus, de paysages mais aussi d\u2019animaux. De son vivant, plusieurs expositions personnelles lui furent consacr\u00e9es, \u00e0 la Galerie Devambez en 1924 et \u00e0 la Galerie Vincent en 1930. Au cours de sa carri\u00e8re, Camille ROCHE participe r\u00e9guli\u00e8rement \u00e9galement au Salon d\u2019Automne, au Salon des Artistes D\u00e9corateurs, au Salon de la Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 Nationale des Beaux-Arts et au Salon de la Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 des Artistes Animaliers.<\/p>\n
