Gaston Priou, “Le Tigre” (The Tiger)
Gaston Priou (1913 - 1982)
"Le Tigre" (The Tiger)
Circa 1930
This sumptuous painted and lacquered panel illustrates a refined composition blending exotic nature and graphic elegance. Large palm leaves structure the scene, while a golden tiger with a scale pattern adds movement and contrast. The palette of warm tones - gold, beige, brown and olive green - plays with light, revealing textures and reliefs. Fine lacquer leaves are meticulously chiseled.
Signed “G Priou”.
