Gilbert Poillerat, Important chandelier
Gilbert Poillerat (1902-1988)
Important chandelier
Circa 1943
The main structure consists of an oval wrought-iron frame divided into two rings linked by rods, also in wrought iron. Two geometric branches ending in scrolls meet at the centre of the chandelier, joined by a gilded iron shell. This is topped by a wrought-iron ring and rod, and a gilded-iron oval platform fixed to the ceiling to suspend the chandelier. Connected to the upper structure by a central twisted wrought-iron rod, the lower gilded-iron structure resembles a ribbed dome and is bordered by twelve tapering horns to hold the bulbs.
