Jean Royère, “Persan” floor lamp
Jean Royère (1902-1981)
‘‘Persan’’ floor lamp
Circa 1953
This floor lamp is made of seven tubular metal rods with gilded patina. The rods are gathered by two bangles to form the shaft of the lamp. As it gets to the floor the shape flares out so the lamp can stand.
In the upper tier, the rods go up to different heights, widening to form varying curves. Each rod holds a light topped with a conic lampshade.
The ‘‘Persane’’ series is closely linked to Jean Royère's travels to the Middle East.
