Line Vautrin, “Folie” mirror

Line Vautrin (1913-1977)

Sold

"Folie" mirror
circa 1960

Black talosel undulating structure and two original convex mirrored glasses. Signed « Line Vautrin » on the back. This large «Folie» mirror, also known as «Le Soleil a Rendez-Vous avec la Lune», is part of these rare mirrors created as sculptures by Line Vautrin. Very poetic with this meeting between the sun and the moon, this model is also very strong and vibrating by the use of black patinated talosel, without any inlay of coloured mirrors.

Height 66,5 cm (26 1⁄4 in) - Width 74 cm (29 1⁄4 in)

Provenance :
Private collection, South-West of France.
This mirror has been directly bought from the gallery F & R Sailhan in Dax at the begining of the 60’s. A copy of the original invoice comes along with this mirror.
The galerie Chastel-Maréchal purchased it directly from the family of these collectors.
