Rare and important ‘Cantique des colonnes’ box

This patinated golden bronze rectangular box is composed by three different sizes parts. The central part is larger than the two others, this box were used as a clutch bag. Each part is covered by ribs engraved with a text extracted from ‘Cantique des colonnes’ by Paul Valéry (1871-1945). The box has two oval handles on both sides. The gilding has been lightly restored to keep its original aspect. Stamped « LINE VAUTRIN » under the box. Engraved ‘P.VALERY’ on the side.
