This fireplace and wall model is made of white-painted plaster. It is dated on the edge "AVRIL 1973" (APRIL 1973).
It was created in April 1973 as part of the decoration project of the living room of a house in Sète, France. Valentine Schlegel creates such projets from 1959 - until 2002 - just as she cannot find any right place to exhibit the vase she just offered to some friends: she then decides to design a plaster casing for the fireplace in the living room, saving a shelf that perfectly highlights the vase. All the following projects are similar: they show delicate curved lines which draw and organize the different elements of the installation (hearth, bench, shelf, tray, sundries tray and niche); the eye softly follows these lines to circulate from element to the other.
